This page will contain my opinions and nobody else's, not my ISP's, my family's or my girlfriend's. I don't claim it to be factual, it's my rant page OK? I may even make stuff up to go here, so get used to it. So when something gets right up my nostrils, you can come here and read all about it, possibly with amusing results. You should know, however, that this page is a partial exception to the rule that I like to get email inspired by this web site. In general, I don't care what you think of anything you read on this page, unless you're in whole-hearted agreement with it. If it annoys you, tough; that's your problem. This is my rant page and I'll rant in any way I like that isn't illegal in England or a violation of my ISP's terms of service. So if you send me an email because you're annoyed by something you found here I'll read it, laugh gleefully, delete it and ignore you, and the more worked up you got the more I'll enjoy ignoring you!

Tony Blair: A new candidate for Britain's worst joke...

The drawn out resignation.

How long does it take to resign?  About eighteen months ago Tony Blair told us he would be going within a year. He promised to name the day, tell us when we could celebrate, and then bugger off out of politics so we could try to forget him.  Unfortunately he seems to change his mind more often than a badly written soap character, and has hung on and dithered over resigning for so long that it's sometimes hard to believe that he's ever going to clear off.  Yes people, it's true, one day Tony Blair won't be prime minister, really!

The "Blair legacy".

This is a frequently used phrase that makes me laugh, and it isn't the kind of laughter Tony Blair would like to hear.  So what exactly is this legacy supposed to consist of?  When first elected, Tony told us we could expect more fully qualified doctors and nurses in our NHS hospitals; there are, according to official figures, fewer of both.  We were promised better NHS dental care, now most people can't find an NHS dentist.  We were also promised that there would be more teachers in our schools, and there are fewer, and not only that but many of those who are teaching in our schools now aren't even literate.  Yes, teachers who can't even spell are allowed to teach British children now.  I can't think of one promise Tony Blair has made that has been kept; what a legacy!  Way to go, Tony!

The Real Blair legacy.

British politics is now riddled with corruption, yes, even worse than it was when Margaret Thatcher was PM and that takes some doing!  We see the bungling, incompetence and blatant self-interest manifest every single week in our leaders.  The bunglers who run the NHS can't order a computer system without getting it wrong; they can't reform a job application system without getting it wrong; they can't spend huge extra sums of money without wasting most of it, and worst of all, they can't prevent the spread of infections in our hospitals; this in spite of the fact that infection control experts tell us that all it takes is proper cleaning and the following of a few basic hygiene procedures by hospital staff.  The idiots running our education sytem spend more money and yet we have fewer teachers, and angry teachers at the stupid manner in which they are treated, and illiterate teachers too in a lot of schools.  Every single one of our government departments is riddled with incompetence, bungling, lying, a lack of accountability and corruption.  I could go on and on, but I think I've described what I think of the government of Slippery Tony clearly enough.

Few people I know believe Tony Blair to be capable of honesty even at the most basic level, and fewer still would think him a good leader.  I think he's insane; the proof of this is that he actually seems sincere on one point; he really seems to think that he had something worthwhile to offer the British people.  Yes, it's laughable isn't it?  This man thinks he's been of service to his country!  This, to me, is cast iron proof that Tony Blair wouldn't know reality if it bit his testicles off!  How is it being of service to lie your way through years and years of government?  To drag your country into an ill-conceived war?  To waste vast amounts of taxpayers money that is supposed to be going on healthcare?  To erode the basic human rights of your nation's citizens?  To cling to power long after the most ardent fans of yours have realised it was time to go?  The only thing you have to offer that we want Tony is your resignation; hand it over fast!  If you were mine I'd be wishing you'd ended up as the stain on the sheets after sex.

In summary the real Blair legacy is this; selfishness is more socially acceptable in Britain than it has ever been, lying to the public by politicians and civil servants has no expected consequences, the poor can just die as far as the Government is concerned and most of the British people can't be bothered to vote as they don't see any point.  There Tony, like the truth?  A shame you will probably never read this, and I won't get the chance to tell you myself.
